GFP Real Estate, LLC is pleased to announce that Carver Edison, a New York City-based financial technology company committed to propelling the next generation of financial wellness—in part by revolutionizing employee stock purchase plans, has signed a five-year lease for 5,130 square feet of space on the fifth floor of 200 Varick St.
Commensurate with their commercial success, Carver Edison, an existing tenant at the building, has more than quadrupled their space. The company’s expansion underscores their commitment to supporting their employees as whole people through the establishment of a state-of-the-art NYC-hub where employees, and clients, from around the world have the flexibility to congregate.
Jeffrey Gural and Rhonda Singer of GFP Real Estate, LLC represented the tenant and the landlord in the transaction.
“It’s always exciting to see a tenant grow in place,” said Jeffrey Gural, Chairman and Principal of GFP Real Estate. “We have seen an extraordinary surge in space needs from existing tenants over the past 12 months as companies, especially those in the tech space, continue to see unprecedented growth. GFP is pleased to have been able to accommodate Carver Edison’s additional space needs without disruption to their day-to-day operations.”
GFP Real Estate is currently undertaking a complete renovation of the building’s lobby and entrance to create a modern, state-of-the-art experience that includes a large “living” green wall. The renovation is expected to be completed in March of 2022.
Built in 1927 and designed by architect Frank S. Parker, 200 Varick Street is a 12-story, 490,000-square-foot office building located in the heart of Hudson Square. The property features oversized windows with four exposures; new mechanicals; and brand-new elevators that boast a state-of-the-art lobby boost system, which increases efficiency and reduces wait.
200 Varick St.’s ground floor retail tenants include the iconic SOB’s Dinner Club, The Film Forum, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Global Newsstand and CHOPT. Office tenants include AHRC New York City and the Omnicom Group. 200 Varick St. offers convenient access to the 1 train, located at the building’s doorstep, as well as the C and E trains on nearby Spring Street.
